Accredited Guide & Service Dog Organizations & Schools
The following is a list of accredited guide and service dog organizations, followed by a list of guide dog schools in the United States. Where available, the 2015 GDUI School Survey has been provided.
Guide & Service Dog Organizations
Guide Dog Users, Inc
Guide Dog Users Inc., (GDUI), is the leading consumer-driven organization of guide dog handlers in the world. GDUI is an affiliate of the American Council of the Blind (ACB) and is a founding member of the Coalition of Assistance Dog Organizations (CADO).
National Association of Guide Dog Users
The National Association of Guide Dog Users (NAGDU) is a proud division of the National Federation of the Blind, the oldest and largest organization of the blind in the United States. The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
International Association of Assistance Dog Partners
A non-profit, cross-disability organization representing people partnered with guide, hearing and service dogs.
Assistance Dogs International
Assistance Dogs International (ADI) is a coalition of not for profit assistance dog organisations. The purpose of ADI is to improve the areas of training, placement, and utilization of assistance dogs, staff and volunteer education, as well as educating the public about assistance dogs, and advocating for the legal rights of people with disabilities partnered with assistance dogs.
International Guide Dog Federation
The International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) was formed in 1989, following meetings over several years of Guide Dog organisations around the World. The IGDF is comprised of over 80 member organisations, whose purpose is to serve people who are blind or vision impaired around the world, by training and providing Guide Dogs. It has a growing and thriving membership with a small executive office based in Reading, UK.
Coalition of Assistance Dog Organizations
CADO is a networking organization, existing as a vehicle through which the assistance dog community works together to protect the assistance dog movement from being damaged by unscrupulous persons and groups misidentifying their animals and dogs as service animals. In addition, CADO wants to educate uninformed business owners and managers, as well as public organizations about the characterisitcs of legitimate service animals. These efforts stem from CADO's primary goal of preserving access rights under ADA for the next generation.
